"The Dark of Day"

Last week Patricia sent me this poem. Today it a cool and dreary rainy day here in NJ. Reading this poem today, I understood it much better.  - poetheart 06/14/02

All the sky so gray and heavy
The earth in saturate tears
In this complicated world alone
To face unpredictable fears.

The dark of day
Heralds a helpless sigh
Trapped under endless clouds
Not knowing why.

An empty heart
Holds a silent scream
Does it know the end
Of its only dream?

Holding on
To what is almost gone
Clinging to what is dear,
Seeing through the rain,
Waiting,
Perhaps in vain,
For stormy skies to clear.
