"Premature"

Once I looked for love
Like the quest for the Grail.
I could never seem to find it.
I was hungry for love
Sampling from many plates -
None tasting like love to my palate.
So then I prayed for love
Fervently and devoutly like a pilgrim
But my prayers went unanswered.
So I waited for love.
With faith and patience I waited...
And waited foolishly in vain.
Finally I wrapped my heart away
Like a dear but useless knick-knack.
It seemed senseless to keep it around
Taking up precious space.
Now love is knocking
It waits outside my door...
Now where did I put that heart?
