"Waiting"

I wait for you exactly like an empty house
Walls suffering the twinges of your absence
Ceilings waiting to absorb your escaping breaths
Windows longing for the drapes to be opened
I wait like a house waiting for the occupants to return

The longer I wait, the more my soul bleeds
Into the empty rooms of this hollow mansion
Filling me up with an urgent need to need you
Waiting is tantamount to hunger and thirst -
An aching insomnia of anticipation and expectation

My waiting for you is like a purgatory
Cleansing me of any wandering thought
Purifying me so I may be worthy of your return
My waiting for you is a holy experience
And I pray devoutly for your safe return
