"When You Leave Me"

When you leave me,
The cobblestones will have no voice
The wind will not sing to me through the trees
And I will be like a blinded bird
Flying aimlessly in circles

When you leave me,
I hope that you will have no choice
That you will smile at me before you go
And have some beautiful words to leave me
That I may inhale their scent

When you leave me,
My hope of love will be devoured
The fire in my blood will die out
And smolder out until my veins are like ice
So my heart goes into shock

When you leave me,
Let the flower car stop following the hearse
To drive up to my door with roses and calla lillies
And I hope it will be summer and June -
Because then they will be in bloom
