I thought everything was fine.
I was so secure in every kiss -
Proving once again
That ignorance IS bliss.
It came as such a shock.
I should have opened up my eyes.
I could have seen it coming
And not have been so surprised.
I really know the truth:
I could have never changed your heart.
Your iron will and gypsy soul -
And my not knowing where to start.
I smiled. I was happy.
Can't take that away.
I won't lose my tomorrows
Looking back at yesterdays.
It's enough to have had
Precious moments of bliss,
Though tarnished and faded
With the memory of your kiss.
I will lovingly remember,
And I will smile when I do,
Those days we shared together
When these memories were new.
