Dona Lou Pearson has become one of this site's most popular and beloved poets. She recently sent me so appropriate for this time of year. This is her first poem posted in a very long time. Hope that you enjoy it. - poetheart 11/04/00
The falling leaves of brilliant hue
Tell us that winter is soon due
But for the moment, we can savor
The smells of autumn and find favor
Warm days, cool nights, the harvest moon
And rustling leaves, a quiet tune
Like whispers in the freshened air
It's autumn, a season 'specially fair
While thoughts turn to the wintry chill
That soon will etch the windowsill
And fires warm cold winter nights
When geese have long been on their flights
Today, great beauty graces trees
And thoughts are those of quiet ease,
Near-perfect weather does abound
Right now, as leaves are tumbling ‘round
