"Will I get over you?"

I love this new poem by Dona Lou. I couldn't wait to post this. I think after you read it, you will know why I like it so much...  - poetheart 05/11/02

Will I get over you? I still don't know…
I think of you, that voice, that smile
From deep within, a moan, a sigh
I think of you and grieve anew
For feeling your heart next to mine
Will I get over you?

Your breath once mingled with my own
Most passionate love I've ever known
When I imagined we were one
We breathed, a single entity
Had only one identity,
One heart beat singly for us two…
Will I get over you?

It is forever over…yet
My love, my heart cannot forget
So blind is love, so lost this dream
In its beginnings was its end
A brief, romantic interlude…
On which all other dreams depend
Will I get over you?

Illusions sometimes linger on
Haunting, until all hope is gone
I grasp this dream of yesterday
Lest someday it might slip away…
And take the shadows from my eyes
Awake to life, the past is through
So ends this crazy fantasy…
Someday, when I get over you.
