I like the imagery in this recent poem by Dona Lou. - poetheart 12/03/01
I never knew that one could live
Without a beating heart
Without a pulse
No blood coursing through veins
No ebb and flow, no pounding,
Vacant
Since you reached into my chest
And ripped my heart from its moorings
I simply float adrift,
Like a boat with no rudder,
Heartless
