I received this new poem from Dona Lou just last week. - poetheart 05/26/02
I am the sparrow, see me fall
I am the sinner, hear me call
I am the flower, watch me fade
As I wither, then I fall and die
I am a tree, at your command
Upright and stalwart as I stand
Resolute among all others,
My forest brothers tall, and I
I am the prairie, flat and wide
No place for anyone to hide
Just lonesome windswept vistas
Expanding with the human eye
I am a mountain, strong and high
Sheltering eagles 'ere they fly
A crown of snow upon my brow
And rocky crags of stone have I
I am a river, running deep
The silver fish within me sleep
I have great secrets that I keep
For I am only passing by
I am a desert, vast and dry
Where strange nocturnal creatures dwell
So burning hot, some call me Hell
But beauty's in the beholder's eye
