The truth be known, when I received this poem from Dona back in August, 2001, I was not happy with it at all. I found it to be "too sweet" (or "too something") and just not up to standards set by Dona's other poetry. Recently reading it again, I realized that my problem with it is its difference from Dona's other work - and that I really do like it or would have deleted it months ago. Would be like you
I yearned and held to fervent hope you did exist
And then we kissed
And every atom of my body sang in unison
This must be what my heart's been needing
The reason why it keeps on beating
