"I waited forever..."

The truth be known, when I received this poem from Dona back in August, 2001, I was not happy with it at all. I found it to be "too sweet" (or "too something") and just not up to standards set by Dona's other poetry. Recently reading it again, I realized that my problem with it is its difference from Dona's other work - and that I really do like it or would have deleted it months ago. What do you think?  - poetheart 12/30/01

I waited all my lonely life for someone who
Would be like you
I yearned and held to fervent hope you did exist
And then we kissed
And every atom of my body sang in unison
This must be what my heart's been needing
The reason why it keeps on beating
And every heartbeat keeps repeating
Yes, this is the ONE
Each moment since I've held on to
This ever-present thought of you
And even though we live apart,
Your touch is written on my heart
And nothing you might say or do
Will ever change my love for you
I waited all my lonely life
Until you came along
And even though the timing
Was all wrong
I waited all my life for you, and I will go on
Waiting forever if I must...go on waiting
Waiting forever
Just... for you
