You didn't say forever
Or promise me the moon
You didn't give me flowers
Or diamonds or perfume
Or tell me we would never
End so soon
You never lied to me
You never said we'd be together
For all time
You never lied to me
You never gave me hope,
You never, never lied
My heart was blinded, led astray
But it was only by itself and not
By anything you had to say
You were so kind, and oh so true
So if my heart was taken in and made a fool
It wasn't you who broke my heart in two
It was only me, and never you
I saw only things I wished to see
So when you left your heart was free
The lonely prison that I'm in
This cell without a key
Was made by my imagination
And it wasn't of your doing
So the blame is all on me
You never lied, you never lied
No matter how I hurt inside
Or if ever since you left I've cried
You can't be blamed for this
You never lied
