"3:15 a.m. and the Color of Oblivion"

This is the first poetry submission of Josh Hicks. Any/all feedback on this poem would be most appreciated.  - poetheart 08/10/03

Outside the sky is the color of oblivion.
Nightfall, shadows on the walls,
Flickering candles and a computer screen...
Trying to put into words all of the things I think,
But my mind is cold and in a state of desperate disrepair,
And I can't help but feel broken for the way that I treat you sometimes.
Shattered and alone, wondering if one day you'll leave.
God, I just want to hold onto to every fleeting moment,
And I know sometimes that you don't see me cry,
Because I just want you to see love in my eyes,
And I feel it ripping at my insides
But what can I do?
I'm just sitting here thinking about you.
The same fears repeating,
And I can almost feel your heartbeat again.
Torn away, blackened by my own sin,
I can't fall again - I won't fall again,
Because I love you.
