The other day, I received a series of poems from high school senior Rosanne Talocci, who enjoys writing poetry, songs and playing her guitar. After reading the four poems which she submitted, I wrote back to her asking to know more about how she came to write them. About this first poem being posted here she says "I wrote 'Angel Forgotten' about my grandmother when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer...in 1994 when I was 11...I was thinking why not write about my grandmother as a recollection of her. I was also using it as therapy for the rest of my family to read." Please write me and let me know what you think of Rosie's work. -poetheart 09/20/00
She said she was a lonely girl
Before I came into this world
But when she saw my little eyes
She opened her heart to the sky
And then she said "oh my oh my
Look at this little creature
I think I'll go and teach her"
So then she took me under her wing
Taught me right and wrong things
Cause she's the angel forgotten
But I know who you are
The angel forgotten
She came from afarI never knew what she meant to me
Until she left me when I was thirteen
I only knew her for a little while
But the memory is still with meCause she's the angel forgotten
But I know who you are
The angel forgotten
She came from afarYeah she's the angel forgotten
But we know who you are
The angel forgotten
And you're never far from our hearts.
