On rustling wind, crisp leaves are shaking
Once youthful life, is now for the taking
A wintery spirit, upon us descends
Lo it is time, to make our amends
As strength fails and drains , we wither to die
Above and beyond, we ask only why
Kaleidoscope memories, move, and then fail us
Yet these alone, can never avail us
But once upon seas, so tranquil in peace
Through ages of time, 'ere eternity cease
Our spirits awake with victorious cry
Now once aloft, n'ere again to ask why© 2000 Eunice Irwin
