"Colours"

This is one of the latest poems by Montego Mercer.  Montego has had a few poems on this site for a few months now.  - poetheart 06/16/00

Why does color matter?
Why is the mixing of races wrong?
What is the problem?
It should not matter if you are blue,
green, purple, plaid, or
checkerboard on the outside.
Each person is not a color.
We are each a soul,
just waiting for someone to look past
the outer shell
and see what really matters.
Love is color blind.
We all should stop being ignorant
and come together as One.
