Comet bright
Tail of white
Streaking through
The starry night

What's the meaning
Of your flight?
Your message
Of angelic light?

Are you an envoy?
Celestial warning?
Or telling us
Of new day dawning?

A fiery arrow
Shot by Gabriel?
To streak across
Our night sky narrow?

To penetrate
The veil of faith
That separates
All men from hate?

I must believe
Your purpose good
Assures me
God has understood

The loneliness
Of men in plight
Illuminated
By your flight
