About three months ago I posted Dave's first poem "The Nightingale" which elicited a positive response from poetheart.com readers. Dave was just 15 at the time. Now, after his 16th birthday, Dave Parzanese submitted this poem, which I am sure you will all agree is really good. His poems express insight almost beyond his years. - poetheart 04/20/02
life diminished
like a breath denied
unemotional answers
a guilty plea for revenge
a shocking sorrow sets in
lost memories over broken trust
it hurts to look you in the eyes
a pain that has become my life
innocent smiles, beloved lies
over all these faded images
in sudden horror hope for a better life...denied
back in the bottomless hole
letting forgivness sink in
just let me be with no more words
let me listen to my empty broken heart
as it sings the lonely song
hoping not for another dream...denied
