If he disappears
She'll understand
Her silent friend
In a far off land.
It's for their own safety
They can't act on whim
He'll never say he wants her
She'll never say that she wants him.
It's too risky to hold out
Their two hearts on a limb.
To stay in touch
- That is all
They seem to want
But there is more yearning
And emotion spent
When two hearts keep hiding
The love they were meant
To share
To give
To fulfill
And live.
They are not in love
Not in love at all
They keep up their guard
Know they can't fall.
Their passion is poisoned
With rational thinking
The desire is dampened
By avoiding the dreaming
Their love is unspoken
But rarely unwritten
It won't go away
Even though it's forbidden.
They're not in love
It never could be
They think as one
It's so clear to see.
