"Inversion Space"

Another new poem from Eunice Irwin's latest collection.  - poetheart 05/10/03

In the center of a sphere
Which way is up or down?
Suspended in the universe
Do you sink, or swim, or drown?

Inversion space for angels
Clearinghouse for souls
Transcape outer limits
Only heaven knows

Numerator on the top
Denominator bottom
Quotient too irrational
Now the truth forgotten

What's the deal with mathematics?
Where's the key to mystery?
Black holes in space elude us
Circumvent this clueless me

Chalk on blackboard paints the problem
Equations fill the place
Science and humanities'
Endless, fruitless race

Hallucination, fifth dimension
One the same, or possibly
Irrational illusion
Intellectually, sets me free
