"My Angel"

I am very happy to welcome Cristy Ramirez, a 21 year old poet from New Mexico, who has often visited this site. This is her first contribution and she welcomes any comments on her poem.  -poetheart 06/19/01

I thought I saw an angel,
Flying low against the moonlit night.
Her spirit was calm and clear,
As she floated in her peaceful flight.
Her skin was made of promises,
Sworn to the heavens up above.
And the feathery wings which carried her,
Were formed and molded out of love.
Beneath her crystal eyes she held
Secret wishes whispered, only in tranquil sleep.
And with her rosy lips she murmured
Unspoken dreams, a thousand miles deep.
And through her crimson heart,
My past and present flow.
And with every breath she draws,
My life and future grow.
Cradled in her graceful arms is where
My fragile safety rests.
And the love I have and share,
Lies beneath her heaving breast.
I could not help but wonder,
If I touched her would she break?
Then I realized this angel will fly inside of me
Until the very last breath that I take.
