In submitting his second poem, Josh explains that his poem is about "growing up and how much I took my youth for granted." - poetheart 08/11/03
Give me back my time,
Because I don't want to look ahead.
I don't want this to happen -
I just want to be young again.
Where did we lose our youth?
Constantly looking for some plastic moment of truth,
Looking for the carefree beings that we used to be,
The souls that were stolen by some sort of machine,
Forced into a world of numbers and barcoded dreams,
Told what to do and in whom to believe,
Because as I sleep, you face the cold night,
And as you sleep, I fear the daylight.
Give me back my time that I always took for granted,
For those evenings we shared before the world became slanted,
Before we "grew" up and lost ourselves -
Before we entered into the real world simply called hell.
