"No Offense"

John submitted this poem back in November, 2002.  I intended to post back in December and thought I had. I recently tried to find this poem on my site and realized it was never sent to my server. So with one click, here it is...  - poetheart 02/14/03

Won't you lay down here beside me?
Let me rub your back awhile?
Let m
e kiss your neck quite gently,
Hear you mo
an, and see you smile?

Could we sit and talk of artists,
Compare our favorite lines?
Maybe tell of fav
orite places,
And sip our favorite wines?

I would tell you that I love you...
If that would be alright...
I would merely like to hold you,
On a rainy, winter night.

At my age I'm not a player,
Just another lonely man...
Who could do with so
me companionship,
Who would like to hold your hand.

If I dream, then gently wake me-
There's no need to be unkind.
Just smile, and say, "I think I'll pass",
Then leave me far behind.

Ere you pen your missal in reply,
Lest these words of mine offend-
May I ask for your forgiveness,
No offense did I intend.
