"Prostitute"

This was actually Jennifer's first poetry submission. I was not sure about posting this poem at first, but then I decided that I would. What is particularly interesting about this is that the beginning of each of its lines employs a letter of the alphabet consecutively beginning with the letter "H" going all the way through to the letter "Z" and back to the beginning to the letter "G."
This poem was composed as part of a school project a few years ago. Jennifer says that she found using the consecutive letters of the alphabet somewhat "restricting" but she managed to succeed. What do you think?  - poetheart 08/12/03

Here is the world today,
Intimidating in the least,
Juvenile deliquints free,
Keeping us down.

Living in the streets,
Mothers have children they cannot feed,
No work for pay, the
Only other way you can see,

Parent by day,
Queen of the night,
Reporting to your corner,
Selling yourself for cash,

Telling yourself everything's alright,
Unknown to you,
Viral contamination,
Waiting to infect,

X-rated occupation,
Young enough to be in school,
Zero ways to get out now,
AID's infected,

Because your a tramp,
Can't find a good job,
Don't have the money for medical care,
Everywhere but where you want to be,
Forever is lost in a day,
Goodbye dear friend, I wish I hadn't lost you this way.
