When Patricia sent me this poem she asked me to note that she "I never want to take myself too seriously and "Publish Me" was written in that vein." She wrote this poem "tongue in cheek" and I think it's cute. - poetheart 02/11/02
Put me in print
I'm awfully good
I write from the gut
Like a good poet should
I have a great need
To be outspoken and freed
From the thoughts that are caught in my head
So write them on up
Overfilled is my cup
Of poems I would like to have spread
Spread them out now
I'll show the world how
Most of us feel deep inside
Yet Most do not dare
To uncover what's there
Deep in their soul they will hide…
Hide all the emotion and passion and guilt
They are starved for expression
And like flowers will wilt
Unless they are showered and somehow empowered
By my poems from the cup as they're spilt.
Yes, publish my poems
Give them good homes
Where they can lead many to brave new frontiers-
In journals and papers where poetry is sacred
So the thirsty can read and say "Cheers"
They'll toast all my rhymes
And think of the lines
That have brought them to literary salvation
Poems that save hearts and souls from the darts
That they dodge to reach true jubilation.
