"The Renaissance Man"

Patricia submitted this peom a few weeks ago and I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it. But, after reading it again today, I decided I liked it.  - poetheart 04/20/02

It was years ago that he left her
He traveled across the land
They were both so young
They could not make a plan
So she parted, as friend
Of the Renaissance man

No hurt was quite as great
As the hurt in her lonely heart
Longing so for he
The musician, entertainer, writer and creator
- An artist from the start.

A softhearted clown of sorts,
A mysterious kind of fellow
Comfortable with all sorts
He usually was quite mellow

Writing all the lyrics,
Composing every phrase
Playing melodic ballads
That carried her in many ways.

Whispering words of magic
She recalls warm romantic times.
And she kept him close in her memories
And he always kept her on his mind

The Renaissance man-- an articulate scholar
Born for another time
His wisdom and wit did so much for her heart
It's so sad, but it's tragically true
His love for his art
Kept them apart
And it continues 'til this day through.
