"The Shirt"

Cristy wrote this 03/01/02 and she was generous enough to share it with me (and with you). I am sure that many of you can relate to what she expresses.  - poetheart 03/04/02

It hangs in my closet. Quietly.
Between my winter coat,
And the dress I never wear.
It's sleeves pressed flatly against it's sides.
The pockets empty.
No pencil or measuring tape tucked away.
The three button wrists no longer folded up.
Sometimes I pretend not to see it there.
Your blue shirt, with the silver buttons.
It's pale color a silent whisper.
Reminding me that you are gone.
