"Summer Day"

This is the first poem I received from Charles...He shared it with Dona Lou Pearson on the day they met.  - poetheart 08/31/02

The air was warmed by sunshine rays
That filled the summer's magic days;
Cotton clouds were drifting by
Floating in the azure sky.

Serenity was all around
From heaven high to valley ground;
Butterflies were here and there
Along with bird's songs in the air.

Below, the water shimmered clear
Reflecting things both far and near;
We sat there on our rocky perch
Gazing at a distant church.

I gave a squeeze, a gentle hug
That's when I felt a loving tug;
You held my hand and whispered low:
"God is giving us this show".
