This is the third posted on my site by Belinda Bennett-Hartmann. In the e-mail which contained this poem and "Blood of My Blood" the author revealed that her two favorite poets are Shelly (Ozymandias) and Audin (Funeral Blues...). She considers herself "gothic" in a way and seems to get along well with all the goth teens she encounters. - poetheart 12/12/00
"I wish I had lived in the age of Shelly and Byron...a harder time but people strived more to survive and those who rose to the top had such flare." - Belinda Bennett-HartmannI watch as my tears become rain.
Why is so much evil tolerated here?
We strive to teach morals to our children,
but what is seen through their eyes?
Sin and immorality is okay, entertainment.
Murder gets you a slap on the wrist,
and 15 minutes of fame.
Victims are faceless, of no importance.
Killers are made into cult-heros,
worshipped by our underground society.
The surpression of human rights has
reared its ugly head once more.
Should we worry? We are told "no,
Society will never allow any of this".
Start crying now, watch your tears become rain.
I have seen the victims of injustice.
The immorality and murders appear daily.
Our children are fed the ways of our
society everyday.
Pain and suffering becomes entertainment
for our viewing pleasure.by Belinda Bennett-Hartmann
