"Walk To Nowhere"

Dave wrote this reflective poem for himself and friend about their walks to a local store. He recalls having many great memories about "just walking to a store" and I can relate to what he expresses.  - poetheart 05/25/02

whether cold windy days,
or hot summer afternoons,
nothing will stop this ritual.
walking 10 minutes up,
and 10 minutes back,
sometimes by skateboard,
others by bike.
everlasting memories,
and constant laughter,
awakes while we walk to nowhere.

always ending where we started,
but returning with our gifts of joy.
along each other's side,
sometimes accompanied by another.
memories remembered,
such as "The Walk"
or how 'bout them melons or grapes.
interior motives such a laughing matter,
or when you talk to no one,
throwing away a new born cup of cocoa,
all while we walk to nowhere.

how 'bout them great words we've grown to love.
such as tator,
well you know the rest.
or a funny word for male genitals,
something that rhymes with boats.
christmas trees in the way of our path to victory.
a sudden trip and all is lost.
all on our walk to nowhere.

HEY BOBBY BOY,
its Bill ya know.
remember when we discovered,
that French Vanilla stuff?
burnt mouths and engraved memories,
all profound with glory.
all in all,
we live by walking,
talking serious,
but mostly nonsense,
all on our walk to nowhere.
