This is my new favorite of Cristy's poems. - poetheart 05/18/02
You are my moon. You come to me at night.
But leave me in the pale light of morning.
Nights are not long enough
I feel your cold skin and I am eager
To cover you and share my heat.
You always leave me cold inside.
My lungs tight and my ribs sore.
Loving you shouldn’t be this hard.
Your lips taste like bruised and bitter fruit
And you speak and kiss with a strange tongue.
Your eyes can be deep and searching
Or shallow and dismissing.
I wonder if I will ever see myself there,
In your eyes.
I know not what draws me to you.
Or why I open myself to take the pain
That loving you brings.
But even my dreams are of you.
Dreams of tangling my limbs with your own.
Wanting to press my mouth to yours
And make your lips familiar and sweet.
I want to feel your cold skin and soothe the madness within.
I want to make you warm
So that I won’t be left icy and angry
I dream of you with eyes wide open.
And in your eyes I see the all the shadows
That are slowly growing in my heartby Cristy Ramirez
