Two bodies join in a dance of joy
Each submerged in pure sensation
And moved to ecstatic frenzy
Then the music stops
The dance is over

But love and understanding
Bridge chasms of separateness
Two souls exchange empathy
Each is no longer alone

I speak
You listen
You interpret
And respond

You speak
I listen
I know you understand
And I am somehow changed

You shed new light upon my thoughts
Like a mirror you reflect them back at me
Like a prism you array a spectrum
Of idea embodied in a single thought
Like a diamond you see its many facets
Like a laser the burning light of your insight
Cuts through a mass of verbiage
To reveal the essential thruths

We explore and probe
Awakening new insights
Together we weave a tapestry of ideas
Both of us richer for the effort and result

We are no longer what we were before
Some of you is in me
As I am in you
Our souls have interwoven
And we remain forever
In each other's memory
