This is Josh's third poem on my site. He is the author of "3:15 a.m. and the Color of Oblivion" and "My Life Back" which were posted a short time ago. - poetheart 09/12/03
"It seems that I am plagued by the desire for self-perfection, when I know that it is utterly impossible to achieve. I want to know that I have changed someone's life for the better." - Josh HicksIn my eyes, I am empty,
But I try,
and I know that some of my good intentions,
sometimes seem to cause you to resent me,
(I wish I could get it right, even the simple things)
But I hope that you forgive me,
And you do.
I try,
To be the best to you that I can,
and god how I hate it when I fall short,
Because I let you down.
It is true,
That I may never be worth a poem or a story,
That I may not live up to what I want to be (for you),
But remember these few things,
In your time of hurt, I will never crush you,
In your time of guilt, I will never judge you,
In your time of happiness, I will laugh with you,
And in your time of sadness, I will always be by your side,
When you fall, my arms will always be open,
And when you need a friend, I will always be here, waiting to catch you.by Josh Hicks
