This is Matthew's third submission to my website. Matthew is the author of "Without a Mother" and "What goes on in the mind of a dark poet?" both of which have been recently posted on this site. I hope that you enjoy Matthew's poems as much as I do. Please write and let me know what you think of this poet's work. - poetheart 06/20/01
I have fought the battle of life
And I have lost the battle of life
I tried to gain some glory
And have lost it all
My luck runs slow
Like the rivers around me
As I lie here, and die here
I recall the battles I have fought
Slowly, I begin to forget
As I slip further away
My heart stops...my life ends
Again, the battle I have lost
