This poem was written by Matthew D. Ward on August 8. 2000 and he submitted it to my website back in June (very soon after his first submissions). Although I liked this poem, I was uncertain I wanted to post it at the time. I have since decided to include it.  - poetheart 07/03/01

I've built around me a prison
Where I am trapped within
Trapped with my enemies
Bathing in my sin

Many times I've tried to flee
But there's no way out
I'm trapped here for eternity
My optimism has turned to doubt

There is no way to be better
No way to overcome
I am trapped within this Hell
For which I cannot run

You can say "it's okay"
But I know the truth inside
I will never be "okay"
I will never be "fine"

Let me burn for my mistakes
I will let them win
For I am no longer there
No longer trapped within
