I received this poem from Matthew back in the middle of June, 2001. When he sent this, he said "I have a bad memory and forget when I write things and why... I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote this one..." - poetheart 07/05/01
The people of the town shiver
A cold wind chills their hearts
Still it does not stop the fire
The fire for the burning witch
Crucified for nothing more than coincidence?
Her life ending in utter pain
The townpeople gasp
"Quicker than the others!"
A heartless woman shouted
They began to take the witch's charred body from the stake
Her eyes open as she broke through the skin
Ripping out the pastor's heart
She disappeared
And the townspeople fell to their knees
It was the night they now call The Fall of Salem
