softly fading, with the autumn color fest
tepidly, I step on leaves that lead me to you....
early sunsets, blowing leaves, thinning trees-
angry clouds, Falls chill summons the advent....
sweater and jackets are needed for warmth
as October fades into November....
your distant love chides me into memories past
what was, was.... but cupids diary is eternal....
rakes and bags summon summer's usefulness
but summer's death is a wind swept sting....
the warmth of a July sunset
is now November's eulogy....
so as the twigs snap on a cool, cloudy day
and Thanksgiving a kitchen scent away,
the garden rake will pile summers ashes
into a multicolored pile called fall....Richard J. Amoroso
